Cecilia Margaretha Swanepoel, daughter of Johannes Jochemus Swanepoel and Cecilia Anna Coetsee, was born on December 4, 1792 in Nuweveld, Beaufort West, Western Cape and died on July 22, 1836 in Cambdeboo, Eastern Cape at the age of 43. She married David Schalk van der Merwe (great-aunt’s son-in-law’s great-nephew), son of Roelof van der Merwe and Maria Magdalena van den Berg,. He was baptized on September 16, 1791 in Tulbagh, Western Cape.

    1. Pieter Andries van der Merwe, son of David Schalk van der Merwe and Cecilia Margaretha Swanepoel, was born on August 18, 1831 in Camdeboo, Dist. Graaff-Reinet, Eastern Cape and died on August 27, 1864 in Graaff-Reinet, Eastern Cape at the age of 33. He married Francina Elizabeth Cloete (father’s second cousin’s sister-in-law), daughter of Cornelis Willem Cloete and Francina Elizabeth Joubert, on November 19, 1855 in Graaff-Reinet, Eastern Cape. She was born on April 24, 1833 in Klipdrift, Cambdeboo, Eastern Cape and died on February 14, 1904 in Birkhall, Barkly East, Eastern Cape at the age of 70.
